🌿 Morphology
Perennial succulent, subshrubby, compact, and highly branched, which can reach approximately 30 cm in height. The stems become partially woody with age and produce numerous fleshy, ovoid, dark green leaves.
Its most distinctive feature is the leaf epidermis, marked by a fine craquelure or reticulated pattern, which gives the plant a very unique appearance. With high light levels, the leaves can acquire purple hues, especially on the edges and most exposed areas. It can also produce offsets occasionally.
🌍 Distribution, habitat, and family
Family: Crassulaceae.
It is an accepted species and endemic to Mexico, specifically San Luis Potosí, where it grows in dry scrubland environments and desert-like areas. Its subshrubby habit distinguishes it from many creeping or mat-forming Sedum species.

USDA Zone: 8a–10b (indicative).
It is a relatively cold-hardy species for a Mexican succulent. It tolerates minimum temperatures of −10 to −5 °C.
As with other succulents, resistance increases when the plant is dry and well-ventilated. The risk of damage increases significantly when low temperatures coincide with a permanently moist substrate.

High light intensity is recommended, preferably direct sun, with progressive adaptation if the plant comes from lower light conditions.
High radiation not only maintains a compact habit but can also induce the purple hues characteristic of the species. Exposure to full sun.
💧 Growth cycle and watering
Opportunistic. It is a succulent with growth mainly active during periods of moderate temperatures, although it can maintain its foliage throughout the year.
During the growing season, abundant watering is recommended, subsequently allowing the substrate to dry out completely before watering again.
In winter, especially at low temperatures, the watering frequency should be significantly reduced. Rapid drainage is essential, as excess moisture favors crown and root rot.
🌸 Flowering
Flowering occurs mainly in spring. The inflorescences emerge above the foliage and consist of numerous small, star-shaped, white flowers, which may exhibit pinkish tints, especially in highly exposed positions.
Under cultivation conditions in Madrid, flowering can occur approximately between March and May, depending on the progression of winter temperatures.
🌿 Nutrition
During the active growing period, Desert CHOICE® Succulents is recommended, applied in moderation. An excess of nitrogen should be avoided, as it can cause overly vigorous growth and softer tissues, reducing the species' compact, subshrubby character.
