The bottom of your pots is more important than you imagine, it conditions the development of healthy and vigorous roots.

The purpose of drainage holes is:
✔️Evacuate excess water after watering so that the substrate quickly reaches what we call “Water capacity of the pot”.
✔️Allow the fair aeration of the roots that each plant needs.

Cacti and other succulents need :
📌Substrates with a porosity of 80% and an aeration capacity of around 30%.
📌AND THEY LOVE living in pots with bottoms profiled with multiple openings and DIFFERENT LEVELS OF AERATION.
