🌱 Morphology
  A cultivar of great ornamental appeal, selected for its compact and translucent leaves, which resemble small, bluish-glass lanterns. It forms a low, very prolific rosette with fleshy, broad leaves with truncated, flat, or gently rounded tips. The leaf windows, ranging from bluish-green to pale green, allow light to pass into the interior of the tissues and feature fine longitudinal lines that stand out when the plant is well-hydrated. Under soft lighting, the leaves acquire an almost crystalline shine; with more light, pinkish or violet hues may appear. It produces numerous basal offsets and can eventually form a compact cluster of rosettes. Its growth is relatively slow, but vegetative propagation allows for the creation of groups with high ornamental value.

🌍 Origin, habitat, and family
The botanical taxon from which it originates comes from the Eastern Cape province, South Africa, in the vicinity of Mgwali, north of East London. It grows in stony terrain and on hillsides, among small accumulations of gravel and under the partial protection of vegetation or rocks. This region is dominated by Albany thicket and grassland communities, with rainfall occurring mainly during the warm months.

Spring and summer rains favor vegetative activity, while dry periods and high temperatures can slow growth. This provenance helps explain why forms related to the former Haworthia cooperi group may show more opportunistic behavior than Haworthias from areas with predominantly winter rainfall. In cultivation, it is advisable to adapt watering to the temperature and the plant's actual activity, avoiding both prolonged drought during growth and excess moisture during intense heat.

'Sky Lantern' is a horticultural cultivar: its name identifies a specific selection and not a wild botanical population.

Tolerates minimum temperatures close to −1 °C for short periods, provided the substrate is dry and the plant is protected from prolonged frost. Cold accompanied by persistent humidity can cause damage to the roots and the base of the leaves.

☀️ Lighting
Abundant, filtered light. Semi-shade. Moderate lighting allows the bluish-green tone to be preserved and highlights the transparency of the leaf windows. A DLI PAR of 8–15 mol/m²/day is recommended, with progressive acclimatization. Intense direct sun can cause burns and loss of turgidity, although slightly more intense light can accentuate pinkish or violet hues. A bright location, protected from the midday sun, helps maintain its compact and crystalline appearance.

💧 Growth cycle and watering
Opportunistic, with growth favored by moderate temperatures and available moisture. It can grow for a large part of the year if environmental conditions are favorable, although extreme heat can reduce its activity, making a reduction in watering advisable. It is recommended to water deeply when the substrate is dry and allow it to dry completely again before the next watering. During warm and unfavorable periods, it is best to space out water applications. As with other Haworthias, it may lose old roots and develop new ones when environmental conditions change; therefore, it is important not to keep the substrate constantly moist.

🌸 Flowering
Produces a thin, elongated inflorescence with small tubular flowers that are white with greenish lines, characteristic of this group. Flowering is discreet and its timing may vary depending on cultivation conditions. In this selection, the ornamental interest is concentrated on the translucent leaves, the truncated shape of their tips, and the clustering of rosettes.
