🔍 Known as Living Stones. Succulent with two fleshy leaves that look like "stones." Lithops karasmontana is a relatively large species within the genus. It has a convex truncated profile and, when viewed from above, has an elliptical, reniform shape. Slightly rough to the touch with a fairly deep central fissure. Windows partially closed by islands. Colors within the species are highly variable.
📍 Native to southern Namibia. The reference locality is in the Great Karas Mountains. In this region, rain falls mainly in spring. It belongs to the family Aizoaceae.
🌡️ USDA ZONE 8b - 10a. Can tolerate light frosts. The minimum recommended temperature is -2ºC. In winter, the substrate should remain dry.
☀️ For healthy, stress-free growth, it needs partial shade or a PAR radiation intensity of 20 to 25 moles of photons daily.
🌸 Large central white flowers. Blooms between October and November.
💧 Watering begins in spring as soon as the plant undergoes its annual molt and the old leaves are reabsorbed. When high summer temperatures arrive between July and August, they enter eco-dormancy and watering should be stopped. Watering restarts in September and continues until the flowering period ends. In November, watering is completely stopped to facilitate winter rest. Always let the substrate dry between waterings.
