It is a molecule with acaricidal action in the larval stages and also works as an ovicide. It comes in powder form at a concentration of 10% and it is recommended to complement it with an adult acaricide such as 80% wettable sulfur.
Hexythiazox is absorbed through the plant cuticle and has a persistence of about 60 days in circulation through the sap. Therefore, one application every two months during periods of maximum temperatures and low relative humidity may be recommended if spider mite outbreaks have been observed in the past.
The recommended dose for cacti and other succulents may be higher than that reflected in the technical data sheet of the commercial product, because its usefulness in agri-food plants of interest has been taken into account, where doses are more conservative to avoid residual doses of the phytosanitary product in harvested products.
