Haworthia truncata var. minor | Miniature fan Haworthia
€21,20
🌱 Morphology
Small, slow-growing succulent that forms stemless rosettes, with leaves arranged in two opposite rows, like a fan. Its leaves are short, thick, and grayish-green, with abruptly truncated ends that form translucent windows with a rough surface, speckled with tiny tubercles. Its small size and geometric architecture make it a true botanical miniature. Contractile roots can progressively pull the plant into the substrate, leaving only the leaf windows exposed.
🌍 Origin, habitat, and family
It originates from the Western Cape province, South Africa, and the minor form was described from plants in the vicinity of Dysselsdorp, in the Little Karoo region. It grows in stony soils, often protected under shrubs or partially buried, an adaptation that reduces sun exposure and water loss. Rainfall is irregular, making drainage essential in cultivation.
Family Asphodelaceae · Tribe Alooideae · Genus Haworthia.
❄️ Temperature — USDA 10a
It is sensitive to frost. It is recommended to keep it above 0 °C, especially when there is moisture in the roots, and to protect it from prolonged cold.
☀️ Lighting
Abundant filtered light or partial shade. Avoid intense sun during midday hours. A target DLI PAR of 8–15 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ promotes compact growth and well-defined windows.
💧 Growth cycle and watering
Opportunistic. It can grow when temperatures and humidity are favorable. Water thoroughly and let the substrate dry out completely before watering again. During heatwaves or cold spells, reduce watering and avoid waterlogging.
🌸 Flowering
It produces a thin, elongated inflorescence with small, whitish flowers featuring greenish or brownish lines. Flowering is discreet; the main ornamental appeal lies in its truncated, translucent leaves.
🌿 Nutrition
During the active growth period, Desert CHOICE® Aloes, Haworthias & Co. is recommended, featuring a high content of potassium and bioavailable calcium. Apply with watering, reducing or suspending fertilization during periods of rest or inactivity.
8x8 cm gourmet black pot
This is an inimitable xerophyte grown in Madrid in a high-tech square pot, with the substrate activated with mycorrhizal fungi and biofungicides.
