Haworthia truncata 'Lime Green' | Lime Window Haworthia
€10,60
🌱 Morphology
This unique Haworthia stands out for its fleshy leaves with truncated, almost rectangular tips, arranged in a fan shape like the pages of an open book. Its most striking feature is its lime green or chartreuse coloration, crisscrossed by a network of emerald green veins that stand out in the light. The translucent windows at the tips allow light to penetrate the inner tissues, creating a luminous effect, almost like frosted glass. Over time, it can produce offsets and form compact clumps. Its unusual geometry and fresh tones make it a true gem for collectors.
🌍 Origin, habitat and family
‘Lime Green’ is a horticultural hybrid cultivar, not a wild form with its own natural distribution. It retains the characteristic fan-shaped structure of Haworthia truncata and is thought to possibly descend from a cross with Haworthia cuspidata or Haworthia cymbiformis, although its exact ancestry is not confirmed. Its reference species comes from the Little Karoo in the Western Cape Province, South Africa, especially from the surroundings of Oudtshoorn, De Rust and Calitzdorp. In nature, H. truncata grows in stony soils, often protected under scrub, and can sink partially into the ground thanks to its contractile roots, leaving the leaf windows exposed.
Family Asphodelaceae, tribe Alooideae, genus Haworthia.
❄️ Temperature — USDA 10a
It is preferable to grow it protected from frost. It can tolerate brief dips close to −1 °C if the substrate remains completely dry, but cold combined with moisture can seriously damage the roots and leaves.
☀️ Lighting
It prefers plenty of filtered light or bright partial shade. A DLI PAR of 8–15 mol/m²/day is a suitable reference to promote compact growth and enhance the green network of the leaves. Intense direct sun, especially during the middle hours of summer, can cause burns and alter its coloration.
💧 Growth cycle and watering
Relative summer dormancy. Like other fleshy-leaved haworthias, it may slow its growth in intense heat. It is recommended to water thoroughly when the substrate is dry and let it dry out completely before the next watering. During heatwaves, it is advisable to space out waterings and keep the plant well-ventilated. During cooler periods, it can resume growth; its roots need aeration and should not remain in moist substrate for long. It is advisable to use a pot deep enough to allow its roots to develop.
🌸 Flowering
It produces a slender flower stalk that can exceed 30 cm, with small, dangling flowers in white and cream tones, understated compared to the appeal of the leaves. In favorable conditions, it can flower repeatedly, especially from late spring to early summer.
🌿 Nutrition
During the active growth period, Desert CHOICE® Aloes, Haworthias & Co. is recommended, with a high content of bioavailable potassium and calcium. Apply with watering, reducing or suspending fertilization during summer dormancy.
Gourmet black pot 7x7x9 cm
This is an inimitable xerophyte grown in Madrid in a technological square pot and with substrate activated with mycorrhizal fungi and biofungicides.
