Haworthia 'Silver Fossile' | Haworthia Silver Fossil
€7,95
🌱 Morphology
Cultivated for its mineral appearance and silvery tones. As with other collector's haworthias, its appeal lies in the architecture of its fleshy leaves and the nuances of its surface. There is insufficient reliable information to attribute it to a specific parentage or a particular breeder.
🌍 Origin, habitat and family
The genus Haworthia originates from southern Africa, especially the South African province of the Western Cape and areas of the Eastern Cape. Its species grow among rocks, in crevices and under protective vegetation, where they find filtered light and a balanced substrate with fast drainage. The name 'Silver Fossile' refers to a horticultural selection, so its trade name should not be confused with a place of wild origin.
Family Asphodelaceae, tribe Alooideae, genus Haworthia.
❄️ Temperature — USDA 10a
It is preferable to grow it protected from frost. As a conservative guideline, it is recommended to avoid temperatures below -1 °C, especially if the substrate is moist.
☀️ Lighting
Abundant indirect light or bright partial shade, avoiding intense midday sun. As a reference, an approximate PAR DLI of 8–15 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ helps maintain compact growth without causing burns.
💧 Growth cycle and watering
Summer dormancy. Growth depends on the balance between temperature, light and water availability, not solely on the season. It is recommended to water thoroughly and let the substrate dry out before the next watering. In intense heat, cold or low vegetative activity, it is advisable to space out water applications.
🌸 Flowering
It can produce an elongated inflorescence with small whitish flowers, discreet compared to the ornamental appeal of the plant.
🌿 Nutrition
During the active growth period, Desert CHOICE® Aloes, Haworthias & Co. is recommended, with a high content of potassium and bioavailable calcium. It is applied with watering, reducing or suspending fertilization during periods of dormancy or inactivity.
Gourmet black pot 9x9 cm
This is an inimitable xerophyte cultivated in Madrid in a technological square pot and with the substrate activated with mycorrhizal fungi and biofungicides.
