Haworthia 'Michael Cocozza' | Haworthia Glass Mosaic
€21,20
🌱 Morphology
A collectible hybrid Haworthia that forms compact rosettes of fleshy, triangular leaves arranged in a spiral. Its leaves, ranging from dark green to translucent green, feature surfaces decorated with small dots and lighter markings that resemble a mosaic etched into glass. The translucent areas allow the plant to make use of light when it grows partially protected by the ground or among rocks. Over time, it can form clumps by producing offsets.
🌍 Origin, habitat and family
It is a hybrid cultivar of horticultural origin, with no natural locality of its own. It is attributed to Haworthia collector Joyce Cocozza, who is said to have created the cross between Haworthia herbacea × Haworthia emelyae and dedicated it to her husband, Michael Cocozza. This genealogy appears in enthusiast sources, but is not sufficiently documented to be considered confirmed.
Family Asphodelaceae · Tribe Alooideae · Genus Haworthia.
❄️ Temperature — USDA 10a
It prefers mild temperatures. It should be protected from frost and kept above 0°C, especially if the substrate is moist.
☀️ Lighting
It needs plenty of filtered light or partial shade, avoiding the intense midday sun, which can burn the leaves and alter their attractive pattern. For reference, an approximate PAR DLI of 8–15 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ is suitable, adjusting it to the plant's response.
💧 Growth cycle and watering
Opportunistic. It can grow when moderate temperatures, suitable light and available moisture coincide. It is recommended to water thoroughly and allow the substrate to dry before the next watering. During periods of extreme heat or cold, it is advisable to reduce watering and prevent it from sitting in water.
🌸 Flowering
It produces a slender inflorescence with small whitish tubular flowers, understated compared to the appeal of the leaves. Flowering is usually not the main ornamental interest of this cultivar.
🌿 Nutrition
During the active growth period, Desert CHOICE® Aloes, Haworthias & Co. is recommended, with a high content of bioavailable potassium and calcium. It is applied with watering, reducing or suspending fertilization during periods of dormancy or inactivity.
Gourmet black 7x7 cm pot
This is an inimitable xerophyte cultivated in Madrid in a high-tech square pot with substrate activated with mycorrhizal fungi and biofungicides.
