Haworthia 'Ura Hannya' or 'Urahannyia' | Inverted Window Haworthia
€42,40
🌱 Morphology
A collector's Japanese mutant Haworthia, recognizable by its extraordinarily thick, swollen, very dark green leaves, which can take on brown or almost black hues. The leaves feature large translucent windows not only on the upper surface, but also on the underside, an exceptional feature that gives it a sculptural appearance. The transparent tissues show patterns and lines that can extend across both sides, while the tips widen and take on rounded or irregular shapes. Its growth can produce deformed leaves and rosettes with an unconventional appearance. Larger selections from this mutant group are also available for sale.
🌍 Origin, habitat and family
It is a Japanese horticultural selection associated with a vegetative mutation of Haworthia comptoniana type B. It has no native wild locality: its origin lies in the cultivation and selection of plants with highly developed back windows. The reference species comes from the Eastern Cape, South Africa, where it grows in quartz fields and stony ground, with good drainage and partial protection from the sun. The name "Ura Hannya Group" is also used for other related selections and offspring, so not all plants with that name have to be the same clone.
Family Asphodelaceae · Tribe Alooideae · Genus Haworthia.
❄️ Temperature — USDA 10a
It is recommended to keep it above 5 °C, protecting it from frost and damp cold.
☀️ Lighting
Bright filtered light or bright partial shade. Avoid intense sun, which can burn the tissues and dehydrate the leaves. Indicative DLI PAR: 8–15 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹.
💧 Growth cycle and watering
Opportunistic. Adapt watering to the observed temperature and growth. Water thoroughly and let the substrate dry before the next watering. During heatwaves, reduce watering and improve ventilation, avoiding both waterlogging and prolonged dehydration.
🌸 Flowering
It can produce an elongated inflorescence with small whitish tubular flowers, although flowering is ornamentally insignificant compared to the exceptional windows of the leaves.
🌿 Nutrition
During the active growth period, Desert CHOICE® Aloes, Haworthias & Co. is recommended, with a high content of potassium and bioavailable calcium. Apply with watering, reducing or suspending fertilization during periods of inactivity.
