€10,60
🌱 Morphology
Horticultural cultivar of undocumented origin that forms a compact, symmetrical, and densely imbricated rosette, with a very clean and sculptural appearance.
The leaves are fleshy, obovate to spatulate, relatively wide in the middle, and end in a defined apex. They exhibit a coloration that can range from bluish-green, grayish-green, and silvery tones, with a fine coating of pruinose powder. When exposed to plenty of light and an appropriate temperature range, the edges and tips can acquire pink or reddish hues, creating the appearance of a sea anemone.
Its shape is reminiscent of a rose formed by overlapping layers of petals, hence the metaphorical name “Pacific Rose”.
🌍 Distribution, habitat, and family
Family Crassulaceae. Horticultural cultivar of Echeveria of undocumented origin; it has no native distribution. The name ‘Oceania’ appears in collections and specialized nurseries, but no original description of the cultivar or record has been found that would allow its breeder, date of creation, or parent plants to be established with certainty.
❄️ Temperature
USDA zone 9b. Tolerates minimum temperatures of up to −4 ºC occasionally when completely dry. In Madrid, it should be protected from prolonged frosts and, especially, from the combination of cold and moisture.
☀️ Lighting
Full sun. Indicative DLI: 20–30 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹. High light levels keep the rosette compact and promote the appearance of pink and reddish hues on the margins. Gradual acclimatization to direct sunlight is recommended after periods of lower light levels, as well as protection from extreme sun during heatwaves.
💧 Growth cycle and watering
Winter dormancy. During the active growth period, water abundantly and allow the growing medium to dry out completely before watering again. Water should never collect in the rosette or remain continuously moist around the base.
In autumn, watering should be gradually reduced, and during winter dormancy, it should be kept almost completely dry, especially when temperatures are low.
🌸 Flowering
Like other Echeveria, it can produce tall, branched flower stalks, with bell-shaped flowers in pink, reddish, and yellow tones.
🌿 Nutrition
During the active growth period, Desert CHOICE® Succulents is recommended, applied after watering. Before flowering, it can be supplemented with Desert CHOICE® Flowering. Fertilizing is not recommended during winter dormancy.
This is an inimitable xerophyte grown in Madrid in a high-tech square pot with a growing medium enriched with mycorrhizal fungi and biofungicides.
