🌱 Morphology
Hybrid succulent that forms rosettes approximately 15–20 cm in diameter, and with age can produce offsets and form compact clumps. Its fleshy, spatulate leaves with rounded tips and a small mucro are arranged in a spiral. The surface is covered with a dense farina that softens the colors and provides a velvety finish. Mauve, dusty pink, and grayish-violet tones predominate, with pink margins that intensify under abundant light and with cool nights. It resembles Echeveria ‘Perle von Nürnberg’, but usually has thicker leaves and a warmer pink coloration.
🌍 Distribution, habitat, and family
Horticultural hybrid created by Renee O’Connell for Altman Plants, in California, United States. Its parental genealogy is not confirmed; some sources suggest possible parents, but there is no solid evidence to assign it a specific cross. It belongs to the Crassulaceae family. It has no native wild distribution or assigned taxonomic series.
❄️ Temperature
USDA 10a (−1.1 °C) as a conservative cultivation reference. It is recommended to protect it from frost, especially if it coincides with high humidity or wet soil. The USDA zone limit does not guarantee the individual tolerance of the plant.
☀️ Lighting
Soft full sun, DLI PAR 15–25 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹, with gradual acclimatization. Abundant light promotes pink and purple tones and keeps the rosette compact. In summer, it is advisable to protect it from the most intense sun to avoid burns and preserve the natural farina on the leaves.
💧 Growth cycle and watering
Opportunistic, with growth favored by moderate temperatures. It is recommended to water thoroughly and let the soil dry out completely before watering again. Reduce watering during cold weather and heatwaves. Avoid standing water in the center of the rosette and do not rub the leaves, to preserve the farina.
🌸 Flowering
In spring and summer it can produce arched flower stalks with bell-shaped flowers in coral pink to orange tones.
🌿 Nutrition
During the active growth period, Desert CHOICE® Succulents is recommended, applied after watering. Before flowering, it can be supplemented with Desert CHOICE® Flowering. Fertilizing is not recommended during winter dormancy.
