🔍 Scabrid leaves in sets of 3 and longer than the original botanical species. Very dark green, almost black. Surface with tubercles that form characteristic relief patterns. It is sometimes stoloniferous and can form long, branched stems.

📍 Succulent with a distribution in large areas of the interior of the Western Cape province in the Republic of South Africa. It inhabits a region where the most frequent rains are in winter and in mountainous areas up to 1,000 m altitude. The species Haworthiopsis nigra is one of the four representatives of Section Trifariae, which is one of the seven sections described in the publication by Gildenhuys & Klopper (2016) on its taxonomy. It belongs to the Alooideae tribe within the Asphodelaceae family.

🌡️ USDA ZONE 9a. It can tolerate slight frosts. The recommended minimum temperature is -4ºC.

☀️ For healthy and stress-free growth, it needs partial shade or a PAR radiation intensity greater than 20 moles of daily photons.

🌸 Small, bilabiate, white flowers. It blooms several times per season starting from 3-4 years when temperature conditions and water access are adequate.

💧 It should be watered between September and June, always allowing the substrate to dry out between waterings. It rests in summer like its cousins, the Haworthias.
