🌱 Morphology
Small perennial succulent that forms dense clumps of 5–10 cm, capable of exceeding 25 cm in diameter. It features numerous short stems and fleshy leaves arranged in opposite pairs. The leaves are hemispherical, ovoid, or ellipsoidal, equal or slightly unequal in size, and are densely covered by a white tomentum that gives the plant its characteristic silvery appearance.

🌍 Distribution, habitat, and family
Endemic to the Western Cape, in the Swellendam region. It grows on rocky slopes with clayey sand, especially in quartz fields and on the upper parts of hills. It belongs to the Aizoaceae family.

❄️ Temperature
USDA Zone 9a–11. It tolerates minimum temperatures down to −7 ºC for short periods, provided the substrate remains completely dry.

☀️ Lighting
It requires very intense lighting, with a target of over 20 mol/m²/day of DLI PAR during growth. Direct sun promotes a compact plant and maintains the intensity of the white tomentum.

💧 Growth cycle and watering
Summer dormancy. Its growth is concentrated during the cooler periods. During active growth, it is recommended to water abundantly and allow the substrate to dry completely before the next watering. In summer, waterings should be significantly reduced, avoiding persistent moisture.

🌸 Flowering
Flowers are pink to magenta, relatively large for the size of the plant, about 2–3 cm in diameter. In South Africa, plants have been recorded in bloom between August and October, which corresponds approximately to February–April in Madrid.

🌿 Nutrition
During the active growth period, a fertilizer with a high content of assimilable calcium and potassium, such as Desert CHOICE® Aizoaceae, is recommended, applied during watering and avoiding excessive nitrogen input.
