🌱 Morphology
Small perennial succulent reaching barely 2 cm in height. It forms short, woody stems ending in a pair of very fleshy, unequal leaves: one leaf is notably larger than the other. Both have a finely velvety surface due to the presence of tiny hairs, with grayish-green tones. In cultivation, it can form small clumps up to about 12 cm in diameter.

🌍 Distribution, habitat, and family
Endemic to South Africa, restricted to the Western Cape, in the western Little Karoo, near Vanwyksdorp. It grows on hills with mixtures of quartz and shale. It belongs to the Aizoaceae family.

❄️ Temperature
USDA Zone 9a–11. It tolerates minimum temperatures down to −7 ºC for short periods, provided the substrate is completely dry.

☀️ Lighting
Requires very intense lighting, with a target of over 20 mol/m²/day of DLI PAR during growth. In summer, it is advisable to protect it from the most intense sun and keep it cool and well-ventilated.

💧 Growth cycle and watering
Summer dormancy. It is a primarily winter-growing species, active from late winter through spring. During growth, it is recommended to water abundantly and allow the substrate to dry out completely. In summer, it needs very little water, especially avoiding excess humidity.

🌸 Flowering
Solitary intense pink flowers, which appear mainly between July and November in the Southern Hemisphere, approximately from January to May in Madrid. They open in the afternoon and close at dusk.

🌿 Nutrition
During the active growth period, a fertilizer with a high content of assimilable calcium and potassium is recommended, such as Desert CHOICE® Aizoaceae, applied during watering and avoiding excessive nitrogen input.

This is an inimitable Xerophytic plant grown in Madrid in a technological square pot and with the substrate activated with mycorrhizal fungi.
