🌿 Morphology: Variegated Aeonium cultivar with a compact habit and large, fleshy, very dense rosettes, formed by wide, spatulate leaves. It presents a spectacular combination of green, cream, and pink or reddish tones, especially intense with good lighting and cool temperatures. The stems lignify with age and the rosettes cluster together forming very ornamental specimens.
🧬 Botanical origin Family Crassulaceae. ‘Orion’ is a variegated horticultural cultivar belonging to the Aeonium canariense line. Its exact genealogy and the specific method by which it appeared are not documented with the same precision as patented cultivars such as ‘Mardi Gras’, so it is not correct to attribute a specific cross to it. Specialized sources place it in the Canariense line and around 2020.
🌎 Distribution and habitat
It does not have its own natural distribution as it is a cultivar. Its botanical group is related to Aeonium canariense, a species from Macaronesia, especially the Canary Islands, adapted to rocky environments and a Mediterranean-subtropical climate.

USDA approximately 9b–11b. We recommend keeping it above 5 °C and protecting it from frost. In winter, it tolerates cool temperatures if the substrate remains dry.
☀️ Lighting — DLI
During growth: 15–25 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ of PAR. It needs a lot of light to maintain variegation and develop its reddish tones, but it should be progressively acclimated to direct sun, especially after summer dormancy.
💧 Cycle and watering
Like other Aeonium, it grows mainly during the cool seasons and may enter summer dormancy with high temperatures. Water generously and allow the substrate to dry completely before the next watering. During very hot summers, significantly reduce watering and avoid prolonged humidity.
🌸 Flowering
Branched inflorescences with numerous yellow flowers, usually in late winter and during spring. The rosette that blooms is monocarpic, although the specimen may retain other rosettes and lateral shoots.
🌱 Nutrition
