🌱 Morphology
A compact horticultural hybrid that forms rosettes of thick, fleshy leaves, generally about 8–12 cm in diameter. The leaves are spatulate, wider towards the tip and slightly curved inwards, with a rounded apex or one ending in a small mucron. The epidermis shows blue-green and blue-grey tones, covered by an abundant whitish farina that provides a matte, powdery finish. Under intense light, lavender, pink or orange hues may appear on the margins. It can produce lateral shoots and form small groups of rosettes.
🌍 Distribution, habitat and family
A horticultural cultivar with no natural distribution of its own. It belongs to the ×Pachyveria notogenerus, which groups hybrids between Pachyphytum and Echeveria. Some commercial sources attribute the cross between Pachyphytum oviferum and Echeveria colorata to ‘Orpet’, but I have not found sufficient specialized documentation to confirm this genealogy. Crassulaceae family.
❄️ Temperature
USDA 10a (−1.1 °C) as a conservative reference, not as a guarantee of hardiness. It is recommended to protect it from frost and damp cold, especially when the substrate remains wet.
☀️ Lighting
Soft full sun, with gradual acclimatization. Indicative PAR DLI of 15–25 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹. Abundant lighting helps keep the rosette compact and can intensify the pink or lavender hues. In summer, it is advisable to protect it from the most scorching sun during heatwaves. It is recommended to avoid unnecessary contact with the leaves to preserve the farina.
💧 Growth cycle and watering
Opportunistic, with growth mainly during the mild seasons. It is recommended to water thoroughly and allow the substrate to dry out completely before the next watering. In winter, watering should be spaced out, especially at low temperatures. Waterlogging and persistent moisture at the base of the leaves must be avoided.
🌸 Flowering
No sufficiently verified data have been found regarding the color of the flowers, the usual flowering season, or the age of the first flowering.
🌿 Nutrition
During the active growth period, Desert CHOICE® Succulents is recommended, applied after watering. Before flowering, it can be supplemented with Desert CHOICE® Flowering. Fertilizing is not recommended during the winter dormancy period.
