Haworthia cooperi 'Silver Swirl' | The Silver Swirl
€25,00
🌱 Morphology
A variegated cultivar with a unique appearance, featuring fleshy, elongated leaves that end in translucent triangular windows. Its most striking characteristic is the very light variegation, in white or silver tones, often with a slight greenish tint. In well-variegated specimens, the leaf surface appears almost white, while the windows retain translucent green areas that allow light to pass through. The leaves tend to grow longer and more open than in other compact selections of Haworthia cooperi, so the rosette may acquire a less globose habit.
🌍 Origin, habitat and family
A variegated horticultural cultivar of Japanese origin, internationally distributed among collectors. It does not correspond to an independent wild population, but rather to an ornamental selection of Haworthia. The name is associated with the combination of the white or silver areas with the translucent leaf windows.
Family Asphodelaceae · Tribe Alooideae · Genus Haworthia.
❄️ Temperature — USDA 10a
It is advisable to keep it above -1 °C and protect it from frost, especially when the substrate is damp. Variegation can reduce the amount of functional green tissue, so it is advisable to avoid heat stress and excessive sun exposure.
☀️ Lighting
Prefers abundant indirect light or bright partial shade. Due to its variegation, it is advisable to avoid intense sun, which can cause burns in the light areas. As a starting guideline, a DLI PAR of 8–15 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ is recommended, adjusting carefully to the plant's response. Insufficient lighting may favor excessively elongated growth.
💧 Growth cycle and watering
Summer dormancy. During cool seasons, it is recommended to water thoroughly and allow the substrate to dry before the next watering. In summer, with high temperatures, it is advisable to reduce frequency and maintain excellent ventilation. In many Haworthias, old roots may deteriorate during summer dormancy and be renewed when growth resumes in autumn. Resume watering gradually as heat moderates and avoid waterlogging throughout the year.
🌸 Flowering
It produces an elongated inflorescence with small, whitish tubular flowers, characteristic of the genus. A specific flowering calendar for this cultivar could not be confirmed.
🌿 Nutrition
During active growth, Desert CHOICE® Aloes, Haworthias & Co., with NPK 3-2-8 and calcium and magnesium, is recommended. Apply moderately and reduce or suspend fertilization during summer dormancy.
9x9 cm gourmet black pot
