🌱 Description
A cactus that is initially solitary and develops a characteristic dichotomous branching with age, dividing repeatedly until it forms large clusters. The stems are globose to cylindrical, blue-green, up to 15–17 cm tall and 7–11 cm in diameter. The tubercles are pyramidal, with axils covered in wool and bristles. Each areole presents about 35 spines, with 2–4 central ones that are longer and more robust, white with a dark tip. The dichotomous division of the heads, which can produce very symmetrical pairs, explains the popular name “owl eyes”.
