🔍 Known as Living Stones. A succulent with two fleshy "stone-like" leaves. Lithops salicola is a relatively large species within the genus. It has a truncated, boat-like profile with a flat or slightly convex apex, and when viewed from above, it has a reniform elliptical shape. Smooth to the touch with a shallow central fissure. Completely open and translucent greenish windows. Grayish tones on the main body of the species.
📍 Distributed throughout the area from the Northern Cape province to the Free State in South Africa. Its reference locality is Luckhoff. It lives at altitudes of 1,000 to 1,350 meters. It is a region with regular rainfall during the autumn-winter months. It belongs to the family Aizoaceae.
🌡️USDA ZONE 8a - 10a. Can tolerate frost. The recommended minimum temperature is -7ºC. In winter, when grown in pots, they should remain with dry substrate.
☀️For healthy, stress-free growth, it needs partial shade or a PAR radiation intensity of 20 to 25 moles of photons daily.
🌸 Large central white flowers. Blooms between September and November.
💧Watering begins in spring as soon as the plant undergoes its annual shedding and the old leaves are reabsorbed. When high summer temperatures arrive between July and August, they go into aestivation and watering should be stopped. Watering restarts in September and continues until the end of the flowering period. In November, watering is completely stopped to facilitate winter dormancy. Always let the substrate dry between waterings.
