🔍 Known as Living Stones. A succulent with two lobes that are fleshy, stone-like leaves. Lithops marmorata is a relatively large species within the genus. It has a heart-shaped, truncated profile with a flat or slightly convex apex, and when viewed from above, it is broadly elliptical, almost round, sometimes reniform. Smooth to the touch with a very deep central fissure. Large, open, translucent greenish-gray windows. Mottled or marbled colors. This Cole number is historically associated with Lithops diutina.
📍 Distributed in the Northern Cape province and in elevated areas of Namaqualand and Bushmanland in South Africa. Its reference locality is Springbok. It lives at altitudes of 1,000 to 1,350 meters. This region experiences regular rainfall during the autumn-winter months. It belongs to the family Aizoaceae.
🌡️USDA ZONE 8a - 10a. Can tolerate frost. The recommended minimum temperature is -7ºC. In winter, when cultivated in pots, the substrate should remain dry.
☀️For healthy, stress-free growth, it needs partial shade or a PAR radiation intensity between 20 to 25 moles of photons daily.
🌸 Large central white flowers. Blooms between September and October.
💧Watering begins in spring as soon as the plant undergoes its annual shedding and the old leaves are reabsorbed. When high summer temperatures arrive between July and August, they enter aestivation and watering should be stopped. Watering resumes in September and continues until the end of the flowering period. In November, watering is completely stopped to facilitate winter dormancy. Always allow the substrate to dry between waterings.
