🔍 Extra-large. Known as Living Stones. Succulent with two fleshy leaves resembling "stones". Lithops lesliei is a relatively large species within the genus. It has a flat truncated profile and an elliptical reniform shape when viewed from above. Smooth to the touch with a shallow central fissure. Partially closed greenish windows. Numerous mini-windows, which distinguishes it from Lithops aucampie. Colors vary greatly within the species.
📍 Distributed throughout the Vaal Basin. Its reference locality is Kimberley, between the border north of South Africa and south of Botswana. This is a fairly rainy region, with most rainfall occurring in spring. It belongs to the family Aizoaceae.
🌡️USDA ZONE 8a - 10a. Can tolerate light frosts. The recommended minimum temperature is -7ºC. In winter, the substrate should remain dry.
☀️For healthy, stress-free growth, it needs semi-shade or a PAR radiation intensity of 20 to 25 moles of photons daily.
🌸 Large central yellow flowers. Blooms between September and November.
💧Watering begins in spring as soon as the plant undergoes its annual molt and the old leaves are reabsorbed. When high summer temperatures arrive between July and August, they enter aestivation and watering should stop. Watering resumes in September and continues until the end of the flowering period. In November, watering is completely stopped to facilitate winter dormancy. Always let the substrate dry out between waterings.
