Haworthia 'Raiden' | Interlocking Window Haworthia
€31,80
🌱 Morphology. Japanese hybrid obtained from the cross Haworthia maughanii × Haworthia comptoniana, according to the Cactus Nishi specialized catalog. Its two parents belong to the group of haworthias prized for their translucent leaf windows, although they present different forms.
Haworthia maughanii stands out for its thick leaves, rounded tips and wide windows; Haworthia comptoniana presents more elongated leaves, with truncated tips and reticulated patterns in the translucent areas. In ‘Raiden’, this genetic combination constitutes the basis of its ornamental appeal. The exact shape of the leaves, the intensity of the lines and the degree of transparency can vary between specimens; there is no sufficiently detailed morphological description available to attribute more specific traits to all clones.
🌍 Origin, habitat and family
Hybrid cultivar of Japanese horticultural origin. It does not come from its own wild population, but from the cross of two South African species. The combination of its parents brings together leaf characteristics especially valued by collectors of window haworthias.
Family Asphodelaceae · Tribe Alooideae · Genus Haworthia.
❄️ Temperature — USDA 10a
It is advisable to keep it above -1 °C and protect it from frost, especially when the substrate is moist. It tolerates temperature variations better when it has ventilation and a very well-draining substrate.
☀️ Lighting
It prefers abundant indirect light or bright partial shade. Exposure to intense sun, especially during the middle hours of summer, can cause dehydration, burns or an excessively dark coloration. As a guideline, an approximate DLI PAR of 8–15 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ is recommended, adjusting it to the plant's acclimatization and response.
💧 Growth cycle and watering
Summer dormancy. During the cool growing periods, it is recommended to water thoroughly and let the substrate dry before watering again. In summer, with high temperatures, it is advisable to reduce watering, improve ventilation and prevent the substrate from remaining moist for a long time. In many haworthias, part of the old roots can deteriorate during summer dormancy and renew when growth reactivates in autumn. Watering should be gradually resumed as the heat moderates.
🌸 Flowering
It produces an elongated inflorescence with small whitish tubular flowers, characteristic of the genus.
🌿 Nutrition
During active growth, Desert CHOICE® Aloes, Haworthias & Co., formulated with NPK 3-2-8 and calcium and magnesium, is recommended. It is advisable to reduce or suspend fertilization during summer dormancy and avoid excesses that could harm the compact development of the rosette.
Gourmet black pot of 10x10 cm
This is an inimitable xerophyte cultivated in Madrid in a technological square pot and with the substrate activated with mycorrhizal fungi and biofungicides.
