🌱 Morphology
A horticultural selection marketed under the name Haworthia ‘Mt Miral’. No independent specialist description has been found that confirms its parentage, the breeder, or the characteristics that distinguish it from other Haworthias. However, hybrid characteristics of Haworthia cymbiformis with Haworthia comptoniana are evident. It features purple hues and large transparent windows with dark brown to purple lines.
🌍 Origin, habitat, and family
It is marketed as originating from South Africa. It has not been possible to verify that ‘Mt Miral’ is a botanical species or establish its genealogy; therefore, the horticultural name under which it is marketed is retained.
It belongs to the family Asphodelaceae, tribe Alooideae.
❄️ Temperature — USDA 10a
Frost-sensitive xerophyte, especially sensitive to the combination of cold and moisture in the substrate. It is recommended to keep it above 5°C and avoid prolonged temperature drops.
☀️ Lighting
Bright, filtered light or bright partial shade. It is recommended to avoid intense midday sun, especially during summer and for specimens acclimated to indoor environments. As a reference, an approximate PAR DLI of 8–15 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ may be suitable, adjusting it to the plant's response and available ventilation.
💧 Growth cycle and watering
Summer dormancy. As a general guideline for the genus, it is recommended to reduce watering during periods of intense heat and resume it when temperatures are milder and the plant shows activity. During growth, water thoroughly and allow the substrate to lose most of its moisture before watering again. Avoid waterlogging and water accumulation in the center of the rosette.
🌸 Flowering
Flowering occurs between April and June.
🌿 Nutrition
We recommend Desert CHOICE® Aloes, Haworthias & Co., formulated for Alooideae, during the active growth period. Reduce or suspend fertilization during summer dormancy.
