🌱 Morphology
Japanese horticultural cultivar from the Haworthia genus. It is a hybrid of Haworthia retusa, but with larger truncated windows and finer copper lines. It has a brown rosette center. As is the case with numerous Haworthias, the roots can renew at the end of the summer dormancy and growth can resume in autumn.
🌍 Origin, habitat and family
Horticultural origin plant; its breeder, genealogy and parent species have not been confirmed. The Haworthia genus is native to southern Africa and includes succulents adapted to living among rocks and under protective vegetation.
Family Asphodelaceae · Tribe Alooideae · Genus Haworthia.
❄️ Temperature — USDA 10a
It is advisable to keep it above -1 °C and protect it from frost, especially when the substrate is wet. In warm periods, it needs ventilation and protection from intense sun.
☀️ Lighting
Abundant filtered light or bright partial shade, avoiding direct exposure during the hours of greatest sunlight. Indicative DLI PAR: 8–15 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹.
💧 Growth cycle and watering
Summer dormancy. During the cool seasons, water thoroughly and let the substrate dry before repeating. In episodes of intense heat, reduce watering and improve ventilation. Gradually resume watering in autumn, when temperatures drop and root growth reactivates. Avoid waterlogging.
🌸 Flowering
It can produce an elongated inflorescence with small whitish tubular flowers, characteristic of the genus. Flowering is not its main ornamental appeal.
🌿 Nutrition
During active growth, Desert CHOICE® Aloes, Haworthias & Co. is recommended, NPK 3-2-8 with calcium and magnesium. Reduce or suspend fertilization during summer dormancy.
9x9 cm gourmet black pot
This is an inimitable xerophyte cultivated in Madrid in a technological square pot and with the substrate activated with mycorrhizal fungi and biofungicides.
