Aloe ‘Sugar Crystal’ | European hybrid aloe
€7,95
🌱 Morphology
Small European hybrid with an extraordinarily luminous appearance. It forms compact rosettes approximately 5–10 cm in diameter, with triangular, fleshy, and relatively short leaves, about 3–4 cm long. The green epidermis is profusely speckled with small white spots, creating a pattern reminiscent of sugar crystals sprinkled over the leaves. The margins feature small teeth, and with intense lighting, the plant can acquire darker and more contrasted tones. It produces offsets easily and quickly forms compact clusters.
🌍 Origin, genealogy, and family
Family Asphodelaceae, tribe Alooideae, genus Aloe. It is a European horticultural hybrid, commercially introduced in 2021. It is part of the SuPure® range by OVATA, which specializes in succulent cultivars selected for ornamental production. No reliable documentation has been found regarding its hybridizer or parents, so no specific genealogy is attributed to it.
❄️ Temperature — USDA 10b
It tolerates minimum temperatures of approximately down to 5 °C according to available commercial references. For cultivation in Madrid, it is recommended to protect it from frost and keep it especially dry during cold spells.
☀️ Lighting
High light–bright semi-shade. Abundant light keeps the rosette compact and promotes the contrast between the green of the leaves and the white spotting. An approximate DLI PAR of 20–30 mol/m²/day is recommended, with progressive acclimatization to direct sun.
💧 Growth cycle and watering
Summer dormancy. During weeks of maximum heat, it is recommended to reduce watering and allow the substrate to dry out completely. During active growth, it can be watered deeply, always waiting for the substrate to be completely dry before the next watering.
🌸 Flowering
It can produce the tubular inflorescences characteristic of the Aloe genus, but no sufficiently reliable information has been found regarding the color, size, or specific flowering time of ‘Sugar Crystal’. Therefore, data derived solely from other aloes is not attributed to this cultivar.
🌿 Nutrition
During the active growth period, Desert CHOICE® Aloes, Haworthias & Co. is recommended, with a high content of potassium and bioavailable calcium. It is applied with watering, reducing or suspending fertilization during summer dormancy.
9x9 cm pot
This is an inimitable xerophyte grown in Madrid in a high-tech square pot with substrate activated with mycorrhizal fungi.
