🌱 Morphology
A small Aloe hybrid, with compact and clumping growth, forming rosettes approximately 10–30 cm in diameter. Its leaves are short, triangular and fleshy, bluish-green to grayish-green depending on the time of year. They feature an extraordinary texture formed by protuberances and superficial teeth, while the margins are covered by broad, irregular and often branched teeth, pink in color. With plenty of light, it develops intense reddish, pink, purple or bluish hues. It produces numerous offsets and can form small colonies.
🌍 Distribution, habitat and family
This is a horticultural hybrid created by Karen Zimmerman, introduced by International Succulent Introductions in 2013. Its genealogy is documented: ‘Confetti’ × KZ #1, with KZ #1 being a hybrid of Aloe divaricata × Aloe parvula. As it is a hybrid, it has no natural distribution or habitat of its own. It belongs to the family Asphodelaceae.
❄️ Temperature
USDA 9–11, although some nurseries specifically place it in zone 10a. For cultivation in Spain, we recommend keeping it above 5 ºC, especially in pots and with humidity. It can withstand occasional drops close to 0 ºC if completely dry and protected, but we do not recommend exposing it to frost.
☀️ Lighting
During growth, 20–30 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ of DLI PAR. It needs a lot of light to maintain its compact habit and develop its spectacular bluish and pink tones. Intense sun particularly favors pigmentation, although in Madrid it should be progressively acclimated and protected from excessive radiation during the central hours of the most extreme summer days.
💧 Growth cycle
It is opportunistic, growing when temperatures are favorable. It can slow down both during winter cold and during periods of extreme heat. Water generously and allow the substrate to dry completely before the next watering. In winter and during heat waves, space out waterings and always maintain excellent drainage.
🌸 Flowering
It flowers mainly in spring, producing inflorescences with tubular flowers in red to orange tones. Flowering can appear on several stems in well-lit adult specimens.
