🌱 Morphology: Compact, slow-growing hybrid that forms a very regular and symmetrical rosette about 12–15 cm in diameter. Its leaves are triangular, fleshy, pointed, and dark green, covered with numerous small tubercles or white spots and with tiny marginal teeth. With intense light, it can acquire reddish or reddish-brown tones. It produces pups around the base and eventually forms small colonies.

🌍 Distribution, habitat, and family: It is a horticultural hybrid, so it does not have its own natural distribution. Its genealogy is controversial: it is generally considered a hybrid with the participation of Aristaloe aristata, but the identity of the second parent is not conclusively documented; some sources place it within the ×Gasteraloe. It belongs to the family Asphodelaceae.

❄️ Temperature: Approximately USDA 9a–11b, although there is uncertainty about its true hardiness due to its hybrid origin. For safe cultivation in Spain, it is recommended to keep it above 5 °C, especially in a pot. It can withstand temperatures close to 0 °C if it remains completely dry and protected, but I would not advise exposing it to frost without first checking the hardiness of the clone. The hardiness of A. aristata is considerably higher, but this should not be automatically extrapolated to the hybrid.

☀️ Light: Approximate target of 15–25 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ DLI of PAR during growth. It needs a lot of light to maintain its compact shape and achieve the characteristic reddish coloration. It tolerates direct sun after progressive acclimatization; in Madrid, it is advisable to protect it from the most intense sun during heatwaves.

💧 Growth cycle: Opportunistic, although it can show particularly good activity during the cooler months. During the active period, water thoroughly and allow the substrate to dry completely before the next watering. In summer, space out watering during heat episodes, and in winter, reduce it if temperatures are low. It is especially important to avoid waterlogging.

🌸 Flowering: It can produce relatively long flower stalks with red-orange tubular flowers, generally during autumn and winter, although the timing may vary with growing conditions.

🌿 Nutrition: During active growth, use Desert CHOICE® Aloes, Haworthia & Co., specifically formulated for these plants and with a particularly important supply of calcium and potassium. Reduce or suspend fertilization during periods of slowdown.

This is an inimitable xerophytic plant grown in Madrid in a technological square pot and with substrate activated with mycorrhizal fungi and biofungicides.
