Aloe 'AJR'

🌱 Morphology: A compact hybrid that forms rosettes of lanceolate, fleshy, and erect bright green leaves, covered with cherry-red protuberances and teeth. With plenty of light, the leaves can acquire reddish and even purple tones. It reaches approximately 60 cm in height and diameter in adult specimens and produces offsets, forming clumps over time.
🌍 Distribution, habitat, and family: It is a horticultural hybrid originally from Altman Plants, so it has no natural distribution or specific habitat. Its parentage is not reliably published. It belongs to the family Asphodelaceae.
❄️ Temperature: Approximately USDA 10b–11b. For cultivation in Spain, it is recommended to keep it above 5 °C, although it can withstand occasional drops near 0 °C if completely dry. In pots, wet cold should be avoided. Altman recommends frost protection.
☀️ Lighting: Approximate target of 20–30 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ of PAR DLI during growth. It tolerates direct sun after progressive acclimation and needs plenty of light to develop the characteristic red coloration of its leaves and teeth. In Madrid, it should be protected from the most intense sun during heat waves.
💧 Growth cycle: Opportunistic, with growth whenever temperatures are favorable, although it can slow down in extreme heat. During the active period, water abundantly and allow the substrate to dry completely before the next watering. In summer, space out watering when temperatures are very high.
🌸 Flowering: One of its most interesting characteristics is its ability to re-flower several times a year, which is unusual among Aloes. It produces inflorescences with bicolor yellow and orange tubular flowers, generally in spring and, under favorable conditions, at other times of the year.
🚀Nutrition: Its development improves with the application of fertilizer with a high content of assimilable Calcium and potassium, such as Desert CHOICE® Aloes, Haworthias & Co. ( NPK (Ca-Mg) 3–2–8 (8–1))
