🌱 Morphology: Horticultural cultivar of Aeonium with a branched habit, featuring fleshy, large rosettes. Its leaves display a spectacular contrast between a bright green center, internal areas that can acquire burgundy, purple, or almost black tones, and variegated cream, yellowish-green, or reddish margins. The width of the variegation is highly variable, even among different rosettes of the same plant. With cool temperatures and good light, it develops its most intense colors.

🌍 Distribution, habitat, and family: This is a horticultural cultivar, with no natural distribution of its own. Its exact origin is not documented; it is sold internationally, and there is a widespread hypothesis relating it to Aeonium ‘Velour’, but this should not be considered confirmed parentage. It belongs to the Crassulaceae family.

❄️ Temperature: Approximately USDA 9b–11b. For safe cultivation in Spain, I recommend keeping it above 5 °C, especially in pots. It can withstand occasional drops close to 0 °C if completely dry, but cold and wet conditions significantly increase the risk of rot. Some commercial sources place its minimum tolerance around −2 °C.

☀️ Light: Approximate target of 15–25 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ DLI of PAR during growth. It needs a lot of light to maintain variegation and develop dark tones. In Madrid, it should be progressively acclimated to the sun and protected from the most intense direct sun during extreme heat episodes.

💧 Growth cycle: Primarily active during the cooler months, with significant slowdown as the heat increases. During growth, water thoroughly and allow the substrate to dry completely before the next watering. In summer, reduce watering significantly and absolutely avoid waterlogging.

🌸 Flowering: The flowering of this cultivar is poorly documented. As with other Aeoniums, if it reaches maturity, it can produce a terminal inflorescence of small, generally yellow flowers, after which the flowering rosette dies.

🌿 Nutrition: During the active growth period, Desert CHOICE at a moderate dose. Reduce or suspend fertilization during the dormancy period or summer slowdown.
