🌱 Morphology: A compact, bushy, and highly branched hybrid. It forms concentric, relatively flat rosettes of olive green or apple green, which take on bronze, copper, pink, and reddish hues in strong light. One of its most distinctive characteristics is the very abundant and early production of offsets, which appear in rings or layers around the stems and quickly form a dense clump. It can reach approximately 45 cm in height and 75 cm in diameter. Fibrous roots.
🌍 Distribution and habitat: This is a horticultural hybrid cultivar, not a wild species. It was created by Renee O’Connell in California through a cross in 2012 between Aeonium hybrid ‘BB II’ as the female parent and ‘Coronado Lime’ as the male parent. It belongs to the Crassulaceae family. The possible involvement of ‘Blushing Beauty’ in its lineage has been suggested, but it is not documented as a confirmed part of the cross.
❄️ Hardiness: USDA approximately 9b–11b. For cultivation in Spain, we recommend keeping it above 5 °C, especially in pots and with moist substrate. It can tolerate occasional drops close to 0 °C when dry and protected, but frost significantly increases the risk of damage.
☀️ Lighting: Approximate target 15–25 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ DLI-PAR during growth. It needs plenty of light to maintain compact rosettes and develop its bronze and copper tones. It is relatively tolerant to heat and summer sun, although in Madrid it should be temporarily protected during extreme heat waves.
💧 Cycle and watering: Growth primarily in autumn, winter, and spring, with marked slowdown during summer and also during periods of intense cold. During growth, water thoroughly and allow the substrate to dry completely before the next watering. During summer, significantly reduce water and avoid prolonged humidity.
🌸 Flowering: Flowering is poorly documented and has not been consistently observed in reference sources. If it flowers, the typical Aeonium inflorescence with small yellow flowers can be expected.
🌿 Nutrition: During the active period, Desert CHOICE at moderate doses. Reduce or suspend fertilization during the summer slowdown.
