🌱 Morphology: A succulent, highly branched subshrub that can reach 60 cm and occasionally nearly 1 m. Stems are ascending or decumbent and have a notably viscous surface. At their ends, they develop rosettes about 12–22 cm in diameter, with fleshy, obovate-spathulate, yellowish-green, shiny leaves, usually with brown lines in the central area and towards the apex. Both young leaves and stems can be sticky.

🌍 Distribution, habitat, and family: Endemic to Madeira and the Desertas Islands, belonging to the Crassulaceae family. It lives on rocks, cliffs, walls, and other rocky environments, from practically sea level up to approximately 1,700 m. It is one of the two endemic Aeonium species of Madeira.

❄️ Cold hardiness: approximately USDA 9b–11b. For cultivation in Spain, we recommend keeping it above 5 °C, especially in pots. It can temporarily withstand around –2/–3 °C in dry conditions, but lower temperatures can cause significant leaf damage.

☀️ Light: approximate target of 15–25 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ of DLI (PAR) during growth. It appreciates a lot of light and can receive direct sun if acclimatized, although in very hot summer climates, it is advisable to protect it from the midday sun during the most intense hours.

💧 Cycle and watering: growth primarily during autumn, winter, and spring, slowing down during the warmer summer. During growth, water abundantly and let the substrate dry completely before the next watering. In summer, significantly reduce water intake when temperatures are high.

🌸 Flowering: produces large, open, branched inflorescences with numerous golden yellow flowers, whose petals may have reddish lines on the underside. Flowering is prolonged, mainly between July and October, although it may vary depending on altitude and conditions.

🌿 Nutrition: during the growth period, use Desert CHOICE at a moderate dose. Reduce or suspend fertilization during the hottest and dormant period.
