🌱 Morphology
A compact horticultural hybrid that forms rosettes of very fleshy, thick, and densely arranged leaves. The leaves have a broad base and a pointed tip, with the apices tinged deep pink or red, like small tongues of fire about to erupt. The whitish surface, covered in farina, contrasts with the colored tips and gives it an almost frosted appearance. The intensity of the red depends on the lighting, temperature, and growing conditions. Its compact silhouette and the contrast between the light foliage and the fiery tips are its most characteristic ornamental features.
🌍 Distribution, habitat and family
A horticultural cultivar with no natural distribution of its own. It belongs to the notogenus ×Pachyveria, which groups hybrids between Pachyphytum and Echeveria. No reliable documentation has been found to confirm its specific parents. Family Crassulaceae.
❄️ Temperature
USDA 10a (−1.1 °C) as a conservative reference, not as a guarantee of hardiness. It is recommended to protect it from frost and damp cold. As a growing precaution, it should be sheltered when temperatures approach 5 °C.
☀️ Lighting
Soft full sun, with gradual acclimatization. DLI PAR guideline of 15–25 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹. Abundant lighting promotes compact growth and accentuates the pink or reddish tones of the apices. During the summer, the most scorching midday sun should be avoided. It is recommended not to rub the leaves to preserve the farina.
💧 Growth cycle and watering
Winter dormancy. During active growth, it is recommended to water thoroughly and allow the substrate to dry out completely before the next watering. In winter, watering should be spaced out and the substrate kept almost dry if temperatures are low. Waterlogging and water accumulation in the center of the rosette must be avoided.
🌸 Flowering
No sufficiently reliable data have been found regarding the color of the flowers, the usual flowering season, or the age of the first flowering.
🌿 Nutrition
During the active growth period, Desert CHOICE® Succulents is recommended, applied after watering. Before flowering, it can be supplemented with Desert CHOICE® Flowering. Fertilizing is not recommended during winter dormancy.
