🌱 Morphology
A collector's Haworthia... A medium-sized, slow-growing succulent that forms compact rosettes up to 15 centimeters in diameter. Its leaves are fleshy, triangular, and relatively short, dark green to emerald green, turning purple in the center of the rosette. The almost smooth surface stands out for its numerous white or silver flecks, which contrast with the green background and can form irregular patterns. The tips of the leaves are slightly truncated, notched, or rounded, with small translucent areas. The combination of shiny leaves and silver speckling gives this Haworthia the appearance of mother-of-pearl sprinkled with mineral dust emanating from a purple volcano. The exact shape of the rosette and the density of the flecks may vary depending on the clone and growing conditions.

🌍 Origin, habitat, and family
'KA-1' is a collector's selection marketed by Cactus Nishi, Japan, under the name Haworthia silviae. Its genealogy and a complete individual description of this selection have not been able to be verified. The reference taxon is associated with the southwest of the Western Cape, South Africa, especially the region of Albertinia and Mossel Bay. In their natural environment, these Haworthias grow in stony soils and among low vegetation, where stones and small bushes provide partial protection and the water drains quickly.

Family Asphodelaceae · Tribe Alooideae · Genus Haworthia.

❄️ Temperature — USDA 10a
It is advisable to keep it above -1 °C and protect it from frost, especially when the substrate is moist.

☀️ Lighting
Bright filtered light or bright partial shade. Avoid intense sun during the middle of the day, which can cause burns and loss of turgidity. A PAR DLI of approximately 8–15 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ promotes compact growth.

💧 Growth cycle and watering
Summer dormancy. Its growth is favored during the cool seasons. In autumn, winter, and spring, it is recommended to water thoroughly and let the substrate dry before the next watering. In summer, reduce watering as temperatures rise and maintain adequate ventilation.

🌸 Flowering
It produces a slender, elongated inflorescence with small whitish flowers, marked by greenish or brownish lines. Flowering is discreet; the main ornamental interest lies in the light speckling of the leaves.

🌿 Nutrition
During the active growth period, Desert CHOICE® Aloes, Haworthias & Co. is recommended, with a high content of bioavailable potassium and calcium. It is applied with watering, reducing or suspending fertilization during summer dormancy.
