Haworthia 'Muyeri' | Lima and Obsidian window Haworthia
€45,00
🌱 Morphology
A collector's hybrid that combines the retuse leaves and translucent windows of Haworthia retusa var. mutica with the relief and foliar patterns of Haworthia bayeri. It forms compact rosettes of very fleshy, wide, triangular leaves with truncated or slightly sunken ends. The translucent windows feature longitudinal lines and reticulated patterns that contrast with the dark green background, sometimes with grayish, coppery, or purple hues. The leaf texture and the definition of its markings can vary depending on the specimen and growing conditions. Its appeal lies in the combination of volume, transparency, and geometric patterns, reminiscent of a piece of carved obsidian.
🌍 Origin, habitat, and family
This is a horticultural hybrid obtained from the cross of Haworthia retusa var. mutica × Haworthia bayeri. It does not have a wild locality of its own. Its parents originate from the Western Cape, South Africa, where they grow in stony ground and rock crevices, often partially protected by vegetation. Both exhibit adaptations to dry environments, with roots that require rapid drainage and leaves capable of storing water. The influence of winter rains in their regions of origin also dictates their cultivation needs.
Family Asphodelaceae · Tribe Alooideae · Genus Haworthia.
❄️ Temperature — USDA 10a
It is advisable to keep it above -1 °C and protect it from frost, especially when the substrate is damp.
☀️ Lighting
Abundant filtered light or bright partial shade. Progressive lighting promotes a compact rosette and allows the windows and leaf patterns to be appreciated. Avoid intense, sudden sunlight, which can cause burns. Indicative DLI PAR: 8–15 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹.
💧 Growth cycle and watering
Summer dormancy. Its activity is generally higher during the cool seasons. In autumn, winter, and spring, it is recommended to water thoroughly and allow the substrate to dry completely before the next watering. During the summer, reduce water intake as temperatures rise and maintain good ventilation, avoiding persistent moisture around the roots.
🌸 Flowering
It may produce a thin, elongated inflorescence with small, whitish tubular flowers streaked with greenish or brownish lines, like those of its parents. A specific flowering schedule for this hybrid has not been confirmed.
🌿 Nutrition
During the active growth period, Desert CHOICE® Aloes, Haworthias & Co. is recommended, with a high content of potassium and bioavailable calcium. Apply it with watering, reducing or suspending fertilization during summer dormancy.
9x9 cm gourmet black pot
This is an inimitable xerophyte grown in Madrid in a technological square pot, with substrate activated by mycorrhizal fungi and biofungicides.
