Haworthia 'Green Flame' Onareuhebi | Haworthia Green Flame
€21,20
🌱 Morphology
Cultivar marketed under the name ‘Green Flame’ and associated with the specialized Korean Haworthia market. It develops a rosette of fleshy, elongated, and pointed leaves, with translucent leaf windows that allow the internal pattern of the tissues to be seen. Its appeal lies in the contrast between the green of the leaves and the linear markings of the windows, which can resemble small green flames. It has been linked to hybrids of the Haworthia picta var. comptoniana group.
As with many Haworthias, during the summer rest period, old roots may deteriorate and be replaced by new roots when growth resumes in autumn. This root renewal should be taken into account when adjusting watering and fertilization to the seasonal cycle.
🌍 Origin, habitat, and family
‘Green Flame’ is a horticultural designation used in specialized trade. The name is associated with collections of hybrid Haworthias, but the original breeder, the exact origin of the selection, and its parent plants have not been documented. The H. comptoniana group originates from the province of Eastern Cape, South Africa, where it grows in stony ground and rocky outcrops. The cultivar does not have a documented wild locality of its own.
Family Asphodelaceae · Tribe Alooideae · Genus Haworthia.
❄️ Temperature — USDA 10a
It is advisable to keep it above -1 °C and protect it from frost, especially when the substrate is moist. It tolerates moderate heat if it has ventilation and protection from intense sun.
☀️ Lighting
Abundant filtered light or bright partial shade. Avoid sudden intense sun, which can cause burns and alter the coloration of the leaf windows. Approximate DLI PAR: 8–15 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹.
💧 Growth cycle and watering
Summer rest. During the cooler seasons, water thoroughly and allow the substrate to dry before watering again. In summer, reduce watering during periods of extreme heat and maintain good ventilation. As autumn approaches, gradually resume watering as temperatures drop and root growth reactivates. Avoid waterlogging and prolonged moisture around the roots.
🌸 Flowering
It may produce a slender, elongated inflorescence with small whitish tubular flowers, characteristic of the genus. No specific flowering calendar has been confirmed for this cultivar. Its main ornamental appeal lies in the leaf windows and their internal patterns.
🌿 Nutrition
