🔍 Known as Living Stones. Succulent with two lobes that are fleshy, "stone-like" leaves. Lithops localis is a medium-sized species within the genus. It has a convex heart-shaped profile and, from a top view, is broadly elliptical, almost round. Smooth to the touch with a fairly deep central fissure. Small windows with numerous translucent green spots. The entire body displays a wide variety of colors.
📍 Distributed in a wide geographical strip from the southern Grand Karoo to the Eastern Cape province in South Africa. Its reference localities range from Lainsburg to Steitlerville. It is an opportunistic species. It belongs to the family Aizoaceae.
🌡️USDA ZONE 8a - 10a. Can tolerate frost. The recommended minimum temperature is -7ºC. In winter, when cultivated in pots, they must remain with dry substrate.
☀️For healthy and stress-free growth, it needs semi-shade or a PAR radiation intensity between 20 to 25 moles of photons per day.
🌸 Large central yellow flowers. Blooms in October.
💧Watering begins in spring as soon as the plant sheds its old leaves and the old leaves are reabsorbed. When high summer temperatures arrive between July and August, they enter estivation, and watering should cease. Watering resumes in September and continues until the end of the flowering period. In November, watering is completely stopped to facilitate winter dormancy. Always allow the substrate to dry between waterings.
