🔍 Cultivar with intense red color created by Harry Johnson. Known as Living Stones. Succulent with two fleshy, "stone-like" leaves. Lithops karasmontana is a relatively large species within the genus. It has a convex truncated profile and, when viewed from above, has an elliptical reniform shape. Somewhat rough to the touch and with a fairly deep central fissure. Windows partially closed by islands. Colors vary greatly within the species.
📍 Native to southern Namibia. The reference locality is in the Great Karas Mountains. In this region, it rains mainly in spring. It belongs to the family Aizoaceae.
🌡️USDA ZONE 8b - 10a. Can tolerate light frosts. The recommended minimum temperature is -2ºC. In winter, the substrate must remain dry.
☀️For healthy, stress-free growth, it needs partial shade or a PAR radiation intensity of 20 to 25 moles of photons daily.
🌸 Large central white flowers. Blooms between October and November.
💧Watering begins in spring as soon as the plant undergoes its annual molt and old leaves are reabsorbed. When the high temperatures of mid-summer arrive, between July and August, they enter eco-dormancy and watering should be stopped. Watering restarts in September and continues until the end of the flowering period. In November, watering is completely stopped to facilitate winter dormancy. Always let the substrate dry out between waterings.
