Aeonium 'Immortal ink'
€31,80
🌱 Morphology: Variegated cultivar with a bushy habit, with branched stems forming multiple rosettes. The leaves are fleshy, elongated, and pointed, with a very characteristic variegation in light green, cream, and pink, purple or maroon tones, which intensify with strong light and cool temperatures. The plant can form compact and very ornamental clusters.
🌍 Distribution and habitat: It is a horticultural cultivar, with no natural distribution of its own. In specialized trade, it is considered a mutation of Aeonium ‘Ink Painting’, selected for presenting a more pronounced and symmetrical variegation. It belongs to the Crassulaceae family. The botanical genealogy of these commercial cultivars is not formally published, so it is preferable not to attribute a specific parent species to it.
❄️ Hardiness: USDA approximately 9b–11b. For cultivation in Spain, we recommend keeping it above 5 °C, especially in a pot and with moist substrate. It can tolerate drops close to 0 °C when dry and protected, but it does not tolerate frost well.
☀️ Lighting: Approximate target of 15–25 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ DLI-PAR during growth. It needs a lot of light to maintain variegation and develop its intense purple and pink tones. Direct sun should be introduced gradually; in Madrid, it is advisable to protect it from the most intense sun during the central hours of summer.
💧 Cycle and watering: It follows the typical cycle of Aeonium: growth mainly from autumn to spring and summer dormancy with high temperatures. During growth, water abundantly and let the substrate dry completely before the next watering. In summer, reduce watering significantly and avoid persistent humidity while it remains dormant.
🌸 Flowering: Flowering is poorly documented specifically for ‘Immortal Ink’. Like other Aeonium, it can produce a branched inflorescence of yellow flowers, generally during the active period, before the flowering rosette completes its cycle.
🌿 Nutrition: During growth, Desert CHOICE at a moderate dose. Reduce or suspend fertilization during summer dormancy.
