🌱 Morphology: A very compact and densely branched Aeonium, forming numerous small rosettes on short stems that lignify with age. Its leaves are fleshy, glabrous and bluish-green, often with white lines or markings and pink hues that intensify with high light exposure. It can form small clumps of about 10–20 cm in height and take on an almost creeping habit.

🌍 Distribution, habitat and family: An extremely localized endemic of La Gomera (Canary Islands), specifically from the Barranco de La Nueva Era, in the northwest of the island, where it grows among rocks. It belongs to the family Crassulaceae. The species Aeonium castello-paivae is accepted by Kew and is endemic to La Gomera.

❄️ Cold hardiness: USDA 9b–11b. For cultivation in Spain, we recommend keeping it above 5 °C, especially in pots and with moist substrate. It can withstand occasional drops below this if kept completely dry, but it should not be considered frost-hardy.

☀️ Lighting: During growth, an approximate target of 15–25 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ DLI (PAR). It tolerates a lot of light and even direct sun when well acclimatized, although in summer, with very high temperatures, it is advisable to protect it from the most intense midday sun.

💧 Cycle and watering: Growth mainly during cool seasons, with possible summer dormancy when temperatures are very high. During growth, water abundantly and allow the substrate to dry completely before the next watering. In mid-summer, significantly reduce frequency if the rosettes close and the plant slows its activity.

🌸 Flowering: Produces terminal inflorescences with small greenish-white petaled flowers, and in var. sarae, more reddish hues have been described. Flowering seems infrequent in cultivation and presumably occurs in late spring or summer. As in other Aeonium, the flowering rosette is monocarpic, but abundant branching allows the plant to continue developing.

🌿 Nutrition: During the growth period, use Desert CHOICE at a moderate dose. Reduce or suspend fertilization during summer dormancy.
