🌱 Morphology
A compact aloe that forms an attractive spiraled rosette of fleshy, triangular, and relatively wide leaves. The leaves feature characteristic green and cream variegation with a distinct silvery appearance, responsible for its commercial name. The margins may have small teeth, and the leaves are relatively delicate, so they can be damaged during handling. With good lighting, it maintains a compact structure and more intense coloration.

🌍 Distribution, habitat, and family
This is a cultivar of horticultural origin, with no natural distribution or wild habitat of its own. I have not found reliable documentation to establish its parentage, so it is not advisable to attribute a specific lineage to it. It belongs to the family Asphodelaceae. The RHS recognizes the name ‘Lotus Silver,’ although its botanical status is currently unresolved.

❄️ Temperature
USDA 9b–11b. For cultivation in Spain, we recommend keeping it above 5 ºC, especially in pots and with high ambient or substrate humidity. It can tolerate occasional drops close to 0 ºC if it remains completely dry and protected, but we do not recommend exposing it to frost. The value of -1 ºC currently listed in DesertSTORE should be considered an exceptional limit, not a safe growing temperature.

☀️ Lighting
During growth, 15–25 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ of DLI PAR. It needs plenty of light to maintain its compact habit and attractive silvery hue, although in Madrid it is preferable to protect it from the most intense direct summer sun. A very bright location, with gentle morning sun or filtered light during the central hours, is particularly suitable.

💧 Growth cycle
It is opportunistic, capable of growing whenever suitable temperatures are available. Growth may slow down in very hot summers and during cold winters. Water thoroughly and allow the substrate to dry completely before the next watering. In winter, significantly reduce the frequency and prevent it from remaining wet for prolonged periods. The RHS warns that aloes do not thrive in continuously moist substrates.

🌸 Flowering
It can produce typical Aloe inflorescences, with yellow or reddish tubular flowers, raised on leafless flower stalks. RHS references place the flowering of this type of aloe mainly in summer or autumn.
