🌱 Morphology
   A compact Aloe that forms an attractive, spiraled rosette of fleshy, triangular, and relatively wide leaves. The leaves feature a characteristic green and cream variegation with a distinct silvery appearance, which is the source of its trade name. The margins may have small teeth, and the leaves are relatively delicate, so they can be damaged during handling. With good lighting, it maintains a compact structure and more intense coloration.

🌍 Distribution, habitat and family
It is a cultivar of horticultural origin, with no natural distribution or native wild habitat. I have not found reliable documentation to establish its parents, so it is not advisable to attribute specific parentage to it. It belongs to the Asphodelaceae family. The RHS recognizes the name ‘Lotus Silver’, although it currently maintains its botanical status as unresolved.

❄️ Temperature
USDA 9b–11b. For cultivation in Spain, we recommend keeping it above 5 ºC, especially when kept in pots and with high ambient or substrate humidity. It can tolerate occasional drops near 0 ºC if kept completely dry and protected, but we do not recommend exposing it to frost. The -1 ºC value currently listed in DesertSTORE should be considered an exceptional limit, not a safe cultivation temperature.

☀️ Lighting
During growth, 15–25 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ of DLI PAR. It needs plenty of light to maintain its compact form and attractive silvery tone, although in Madrid it is preferable to protect it from the most intense direct summer sun. A very bright location, with soft morning sun or filtered light during the central hours of the day, is especially suitable.

💧 Growth cycle
It has an opportunistic behavior, capable of growing whenever it has adequate temperatures. During very hot summers and cold winters, its growth may slow down. Water abundantly and allow the substrate to dry out completely before the next watering. In winter, reduce the frequency significantly and avoid letting it remain wet for prolonged periods. The RHS warns that aloes do not thrive in continuously damp substrates.

🌸 Flowering
It can produce typical Aloe inflorescences, with yellow or reddish tubular flowers, raised on leafless floral stems. RHS references place the flowering of this type of aloe primarily in summer or autumn.
