🌱 Morphology
Slow-growing, acaulescent succulent that forms a compact rosette up to 20–25 cm in diameter, and can produce basal offsets. The leaves are fleshy, lanceolate, and triangular, dark green to reddish, with white tubercles reminiscent of Gasteria. They have finely toothed margins and keel and an acute apex, combining the morphology of Aristaloe aristata with the warty texture of Gasteria.
🌍 Distribution, habitat and family
It is an artificial horticultural hybrid, so it has no natural distribution or habitat. Its hybrid formula is documented as Aristaloe aristata × Gasteria carinata var. verrucosa. It belongs to Asphodelaceae. The name ×Gasteraloe was created for hybrids between Aloe and Gasteria, but Kew currently considers ×Gasteraloe beguinii a synonym of ×Aristeria beguinii.
❄️ Temperature
USDA 9a–11b. It is relatively hardy, thanks to the hardiness of its parents, it can tolerate a minimum temperature of −4 °C.
☀️ Lighting
Intense light, from bright semi-shade to soft sun, acclimatizing it progressively. Target during active growth: 15–25 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ of DLI PAR. Excessive intense sun and drought can cause reddish tones.
💧 Growth cycle
Opportunistic, with activity during mild temperature periods. Water generously and allow the substrate to dry completely before the next watering. In winter, space out waterings much more if temperatures are low.
🌸 Flowering
It produces relatively thin inflorescences with pink, reddish or orange tubular flowers. Flowering is less frequent than in many Aloe and, in cultivation, can appear mainly from late spring to summer.
